Belief      In Matthew 9:29, the master teacher, Jesus, is reported to have said, “It is done unto you as you believe.”  This teaching tells us that our life experience is a reflection of what we believe, thus a result of the thought energy we project into Universal Creative Mind.        If it is true that our beliefs manifest, what does it mean to “believe?”  To believe in the sense that Jesus was speaking of goes beyond a process of the conscious thinking mind. It is more than having confidence that your thought is true. A belief that manifests involves the entire being – mind, soul and body. To have an intellectual understanding is just the first step. We must also bring that understanding from the mind into the heart and experience the feeling nature of it: We must embody it. Then, as the embodiment, we act in alignment with the belief. We take inspired action that moves us in the direction of the manifestation of our belief. Only then does our life experience begin to reflect what we believe.      I believe that you and I, as the Unity Church of Arlington, have an exciting opportunity to enrich the life of our community. I believe that we are, as our motto says, “a beacon of light.” We may not be on a hill, but we are a lighthouse shining forth the Light of God and welcoming all. I believe that we are here to teach, to share, to love, to nurture, to enlighten and to inspire each other and all who are seeking. My belief is not just a mental concept; I feel the energy of my belief each time I hold UCA in consciousness. I feel inspired and encouraged in your presence, and I am thrilled and delighted that you have chosen me to be your spiritual leader. I am honored by your confidence and trust. You lift me up because you choose to see the best in me.       My belief in who we are as a church family has the power of belief that Jesus was speaking of, and I see that it is done. I hold the vision, and I embody that vision as I experience it in my consciousness. Now,it is time to take inspired action. I pledge to you that I will do everything within my power to listen and follow guidance in support of that vision. I trust that each of you is committed to doing that as well. In joining together, we strengthen our belief. I believe in you.
